(To be used at the opening of Noesian assemblies, councils, or community gatherings.)
(The meeting begins with the Speaker standing before the assembly. If desired, a single light, such as a lantern or an LED pillar, is turned on in the center of the room to symbolize the illumination of inquiry.)
Speaker: Please take your seats. Let us take a brief moment of silence to leave the noise of the day behind, to center our minds, and to recognize the physical reality we share.
(Ten seconds of silence.)
Speaker: We are gathered here, alive for a brief and brilliant moment, on a pale blue dot suspended in a vast and silent cosmos. We are not separate from the universe; we are a part of it. We are fourteen billion years of cosmic evolution, atoms forged in the hearts of dying stars, finally awakened and capable of understanding ourselves.
We are here because we choose to carry the light of reason.
(The assembly joins in the recitation, reaffirming the core tenets of the Noesian worldview.)
Speaker: We look up to the vastness of the universe… Assembly: …not to seek a creator, but to seek the truth.
Speaker: We look to the unyielding laws of nature… Assembly: …to ground our understanding in evidence and observation.
Speaker: We look to the scientific method… Assembly: …knowing that opinion is not science, and that our egos must always surrender to reality.
Speaker: We look to one another… Assembly: …because empathy is our evolutionary triumph, and we are responsible for each other’s survival and flourishing.
Speaker: As we open this assembly, we make a pact with one another and with the truth.
We pledge to speak with clarity and listen with an open mind. We welcome the discomfort of being proven wrong, for every corrected error is a step forward. We will not be guided by dogma, by fear, or by the comfort of easy answers. We will be guided by data, driven by compassion, and anchored in the profound responsibility we hold for the future of this planet.
Speaker: We have the tools. We have the mind. We have each other.
With our eyes wide open to the reality of the universe, I declare this Noesian assembly open. Let the inquiry begin.
(The assembly takes their seats, and the practical business of the meeting commences.)
